  1. RTF (Rich Text Format) is a standardized all-text format for
  2. designating styling and formatting information within a
  3. document.  Because this information is saved as text within
  4. the document, it would be disastrous to filter this information
  5. through the dialect; no word processor would be able to
  6. interpret the information afterwards, and the converted RTF
  7. file would be useless.

  9. If you choose ‚ÄúRTF aware‚Äù from the Options menu, ^
  10. will leave the RTF styling and formatting information alone,
  11. while still converting the actual text to whichever dialect
  12. you have selected.

  14. You may keep RTF awareness turned on even if you are just
  15. converting plain text files.  Plain text files will be converted
  16. correctly regardless of whether or not RTF awareness is on.
